IGA Supporting Local Farmers

Kalavista Olives are now available in the Deli department of IGA Orange, Peisley and Summer Street stores as well as IGA Canowindra.

Kalavista at the Orange Farmers Market - 14th March

A fantastic day for our first Farmers Market.  Visitors to our stall enjoyed the tasting samples and loved how firm and fresh the olives were. We really enjoyed sharing and talking about Kalavista.
Thanks for a great day!    Next Orange Farmers Market will be on 11th April.  Hope to see you there.

Kalavista - 2015

Sue and Steve brown have launched their new brand Kalavista in January this year. It has been a very exciting time as it is 9 years since the trees were planted and are now looking really healthy and produced their first commercial crop last year.  After 9 months curing in salt brine, the Organic Kalamata Olives are ready to eat. They are firm and full of flavour with natural colour variation.

Canowindra Community Hits ABC Radio News

Thanks to the boys at the Trading Post for hosting ABC on Thursday!

A little cut and paste...
"Local shop and cafe owner Nick Jacobs made a tree change 11 years ago, leaving Sydney and settling in Canowindra after three years of research.
"It's got a diversity of industry. It's very fortunate to have great farming land. It's a community that has maintained the ability to be sustainable as a small regional community, and we also felt it had a huge potential to grow and develop into the future.
"There's not many smaller communities that can achieve what we are able to achieve, and that's purely because we have a sense of community."

Block 7 for Sale

This 8.42 hectare bare block has uniform red clays, mostly free draining, and direct access to power. It is irrigated with a shared 3.6ML/ha river/bore licence. It is one of twelve farm blocks within a unique, successful Community Title organic farm development, has been fully soil surveyed and is surrounded by wide lanes for vehicles and stock, and native tree windbreaks. Block 7 comes with an associated 0.5 hectare house block with building approval, underground phone, power and water connected.

There is no limitation on your farming activities except that you maintain organic certification. As part of a group of certified organic growers there is greater potential to achieve your goals through cooperation, as outlined in the Management Statement:

"The objective of this Neighbourhood Scheme is to facilitate the creation of viable intensive organic agricultural developments by promoting co-operation and self-reliance among the proprietors of Lots in the Neighbourhood Plan"
